My 2020 Reading Goals

Happy New Year! Last year I had an amazing year of reading: I read 91 books, including 32 audiobooks. My original goal was to read 35 books, which I surpassed in June. After polling my Instagram followers, I decided to double my original goal and aim to read 70 books by the end of the year.

Since last year was my best year for reading ever, I decided to push myself further than I have before. To keep track of my reading, I’m going to be using Goodreads and My Book Pledge!

1) Read 100 books

My 2019 reading goal was to read 35 books and then I doubled my goal when I completed it by mid year. By the end of the year, I was able to read 91 books while doing leisurely reading. Admittedly I slacked off on my reading a bit at the end. I know with a little bit of a push that I can read 100 books in 2020.

2) Listen to 40 audiobooks

As part of the 100 books that I read this year, I want to listen to at least 35 audiobooks. I started listening to audiobooks a lot this past year and I really enjoy being able to listen to books while I’m designing at work.

3) Read 6 graphic novels

I’ve been wanting to start reading graphic novels more, so I want to challenge myself to read a graphic novel every 2 months (or at least 6 within the year). Hopefully I’ll read more but if I read at least this many, I’ll be happy!

4) Keep my reading planner updated

This year I have my second reading planner. I neglected my first one after a couple of months but this year I want to push myself to keep my reading planner updated. To do this, I plan to carry it with me every day and make sure that I am writing mini reviews of the books I’ve read there as well as recording my favourite quotes every month.

5) Publish a monthly book review

With all the reading that I’m going to be doing this year, I want to challenge myself to publish a book review on my blog every month. I’ve been really enjoying writing reviews, especially on early reads, so I want to push myself to write and publish more reviews.
