I can’t believe it’s already summer and that we’ve been social distancing for 14 weeks already. So far this year, I’ve been able to read 55 books and am currently 8 books ahead of schedule. I’ve made great progress of my yearly reading goals so far! In fact, I’ve already read more than the amount of graphic novels than I had originally planned to read this year.
Every summer I like to challenge myself with creating summer specific reading goals. My summer reading challenge run from June 21 until September 20!

1) Listen to 10 audiobooks
I absolutely love listening to audiobooks! Since I’ve been working from home I haven’t been listening to as many as I do at work because I’m not trying to block out the noise from other people working around me and I’ve been editing a lot of videos so I haven’t had as much time to listen to them.
But when I do listen to audiobooks I feel like the days go by so much faster so I feel like I should focus on listening to audiobooks like I’ve wanted to. My goal for audiobooks this year was to listen to 40 audiobooks and so far I’ve listened to 15 audiobooks so far.
2) Read 30 books
Since we’ve been home, my reading has been incredible. I have so much time on weekends to read since we aren’t able to spend time with our family and friends. With this extra time, I’ve been reading more than I normally do. I think that over 3 months that I can reasonably read 30 books. It’s three times the amount that I said I would read last year but I think that I can easily achieve this goal!
3) Participate in at least 2 readathons
I absolutely love doing readathons! So far this year, I’ve already participated in a few readathons and I’m really excited to keep doing them. I’m definitely going to be participating in the second half of the Magical Readathon in August and I’m also planning to join in on a TBC Readathon that one of my friends is co-hosting.
4) Buddy read with a friend
I’ve done a few buddy reads so far this year and it’s been a really enjoyable experience to be able to read with friends. So I hope to continue to try to stay connected with people while social distancing by buddy reading with some of my bookstagram friends.
5) Review 5 books
One of my 2020 goals was to post monthly reviews on my blog. I’ve missed some months but I’m going to try to make up for falling behind by posting a total of 12 reviews in 2020 which will average out to a monthly review. To help achieve this goal, I want to review 5 books throughout my summer reading challenge. I’m really enjoying reviewing books and want to continue to grow my experience as a blogger by publishing regular reviews.
Do you have any reading goals for this summer?
